Strawberries are here – summer starts now!

While we’ve been blessed with some wonderful sunshine already in May, nothing says “Summer is here” like the arrival of our first strawberries! They land in stores this week (Booths, ASDA, Harrods, Bayley & Sage, Wholefoods), officially marking the start of another busy strawberry season.

We’ll be bringing you the very best strawberries throughout the summer (May to October) so keep an eye on our social media for updates on where you can get yours. We’ve also got plenty of exciting events and collaborations in the pipeline for you to look forward to!

Alongside the return of annual events such as Wimbledon, there’s even more to celebrate this coming June with the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. This means street parties and celebratory picnics galore! Of course, you’ll want to make the perfect food to fuel the festivities. We have a large selection of recipes for you to choose from, perfect for parties and picnics. From drinks to desserts, there’s lots of inspiration for this very special occasion.

Here are a few crowd-pleasers to get you started:

Strawberry Sundae

Rhuberry Victoria Sponge

Strawberry & Spinach Salad

Tame & Wild with Strawberry Jelly

At Annabel’s Deliciously British we are as passionate as ever about being a zero-waste farm. This has recently taken the form of collaborating with home-cooking champions Sorted Food and Yorkshire-based Sloemotion Distillery. Strawberries from last summer’s crop were used in the creation of their delicious new “Strawberry Gin Liqueur with Vanilla & Black Pepper”.

It’s a perfect partnership that ties in with our ongoing work with other specialist food and drink producers to use up surplus berries and reduce our carbon footprint. Along with using waste fruit for partner drinks brands, we also use it in other products including our own jams and chutneys!

After a tantalising wait, our Strawberry Blossom Honey also joined our range of products which was taken from the hives in the Spring. This honey comes from the hard-working bees we have on-site. They play a vital role in the production of our strawberries, busily pollinating the strawberry plants, and this fragrant honey is the delicious result. Delightful on its own or incorporated into mouth-watering recipes… keep an eye out for more of these soon.

Finally, we would like to wish all of our friends in the hospitality trade a wonderful summer season. After two difficult years, it is fantastic to see events back with a bang and attendees having a wonderful time. Long may it continue!
