Summer is flying by at high speed and the strawberries are in full flow! The peak season also coincides with the school holidays so life really does get hectic! A lot has been happening recently so I thought I would give a quick rundown of the highlights!
We have continued to work closely with chefs across the UK; Tom Aikens, Laurence Henry & Andrew Pern to name just a few. I had the opportunity to travel down to London to visit several of the restaurants we supply during Wimbledon! From stunning strawberry afternoon tea at the Ritz to Tom Aitken’s and his amazing Wimbledon inspired pudding, it was a trip to remember! Seeing our Yorkshire strawberries being enjoyed in so many restaurants across the country is a real buzz for me!
Customers at home have also been enjoying our strawberries, with Booths stocking them across their stores and Ocado delivering them straight to peoples doors. The feedback has been brilliant and our recent feature in Ocado Life gave shoppers a real insight into how we deliver from field to fork. I popped into Booth’s Ripon on Yorkshire Day with my pride and joy, the strawberry cart! It stayed there for 4 days as part of their extended Yorkshire day celebrations.
Our most recent visitor on the farm was the lovely Carolanne from That’s TV Yorkshire, who recorded a brilliant feature which went out on their channel this week. It was great to get the opportunity to show how hard we work to ensure the best strawberries reach your table in the most sustainable way. Our compostable packaging is proving a hit along with our wooden trays which are great for up cycling (check out our previous blog for inspiration)!
We have lots more excitement in the pipeline, which I must keep a secret for now but watch this space for more strawberry based products very soon!
