Updates From The Farm

There has been a lot happening here at Annabel’s Deliciously British. From exciting developments within the business to doing our bit for the local wildlife on the farm, there has been plenty to keep us busy ahead of strawberry season starting.

Creating an environment around the farm that champions the biodiversity of the wildlife living here is as important as creating sustainable farming practices and having zero waste. A few years ago we installed our beehives and also worked on creating bug hotels throughout the farm.

This year, we have installed Owl Boxes, to provide safe homes for owls and encourage more of them to come to and nest around the farm. We’re keeping a close eye on these to see which visitors make their home there.

Becoming an accredited Living Wage Employer.

In February, we received the news that we are now an accredited Living Wage Foundation Employer. This means that we are working alongside 11,000 other UK businesses that have committed to paying a real living wage, and is an initiative we are proud to be a part of. 

Being a farm worker is a hugely physical job, and we believe our employees deserve to be appropriately compensated for this. It’s for this reason we have worked hard to get this accreditation so that our employees and future employees know that not only will they get paid a fair wage, but it will be enough to live off.

On the road to becoming a B-Corp.

Building a business that is both environmentally and socially responsible remains at the heart of everything we do at Annabel’s Deliciously British. It’s for this reason that we are thrilled to announce that we are in the process of becoming B-Corp Certified!

Whilst we are not there yet, we are working tirelessly through the process so that we can get this certification as soon as possible.

Events season is here.

Events season is in full swing and we can’t wait to see many of you at different events across the country. We have refurbished an old trailer into our new Annabel’s Deliciously British events trailer ready for the season ahead. Keep an eye out on our social media channels for updates. 

Our first event of the year was at the Farm Shop and Deli Show at the NEC in April. It was so lovely to exhibit alongside other British food producers and meet so many friendly faces. To top it off we won three awards in the Farm Shop & Deli Product Awards 2023. Our Rhuberry Conserve and Strawberry Blossom Honey won the Silver Award whilst our Strawberry Conserve blew away the judges and won a Gold award!

Our sister company Tame & Wild also won two awards, the Damson & Rosehip drink won silver, whilst the Rhubarb and Elderberry drink won gold.

Preparations for strawberry season.

Every year, our strawberry season runs between May and October so we have been busy preparing all spring. This includes planting the strawberry plants and ensuring they have the best environment to thrive in.

We can’t wait for the strawberry season to start within the next few weeks. Don’t forget, you can still enjoy their great taste by buying a jar of one of our preserves. This includes our Strawberry Conserve, Rhuberry Conserve and Strawberry Chilli Chutney!
